Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
We design products for true manufacturing process, effective production of parts and components assembled in the automation process. We focus on optimizing the structure in the design. Plastic parts must have a continuous even wall stock on the complete contour. Heavy wall sections need to be cored out for good flow of the material in the molding process and to avoid sink marks. Proper selection of the material is very important for strength, heat resistance, color etc.
Metal parts like steel & aluminum can be machined, wire cut or casted if the client agrees.
Steel parts can be heat treated for wear. Metal finishing like Electroplating. Powder coating and paint are an option as well. This all will be specified in the 2D Drawing.
There are numerous options for manufacturing solutions depending on the part application.
Sheet metal part designs need a 3d model and the flat blank dimensions for cost estimation of the material. Overall we design the product to be made as simple as possible to manufacture and yet to be functional as it was intended for its use.
All of our designs are created in 3d solids and surfaces.
We supply 2d part drawings and assemblies for verification. The 2D drawing acts as a contract to the supplier of the parts and has to be viewed carefully for specifications.
Most of the parts we design can be created in the preferred prototype process using materials of choice for verification.
Metal prototyping is now available also.
We supply the proper geometry for this and the file format as well.
Some parts just have to be machined in the CNC process to arrive with correct geometry.
Parts can be tested throughout the development process and verified prior to a production run.
